Chihayafuru: Manga has sequel announced

Chihayafuru fans have a reason to celebrate, as the competitive and passionate world of karuta is being continued. A spin-off sequel to the Chihayafuru manga has been announced.

The story will take place after Chihaya finishes high school. Therefore the magazine announced that it will begin publishing its sequel to Chihayafuru on December 1st in Be Love magazine. The series, titled Chihayafuru Plus Kimigatame , will focus on a freshman karuta player who aims to become one of the best in the game.

Synopsis:

Chihaya Ayase is a girl who spent much of her life simply admiring her sister in her modeling career. However, this changes when she meets a boy named Arata Wataya, a talented karuta player. After becoming friends, he believes that Chihaya has the potential to become a great player.

Chihayafuru (ちはやふる?) is a manga written and illustrated by Yuki Suetsugu , serialized in Be Love and published by Kodansha.

Finally, the work was adapted into an anime between October 2011 and March 2012, then received its second season released between January and June 2013. Finally, the film came out on March 19, 2016 in cinemas in Japan.
