The company purchased the copyright directly from Oda, in a deal valued at 1.6 billion yen , an investment that demonstrates the project's magnitude. The cast will feature top actors from Japan and China
Actor Masataka Kubota , known for playing Light Yagami in the live-action Death Note , will play Monkey D. Luffy , the charismatic captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. Chinese actress and singer Xie Leilei , a member of the group GNZ48 , will also play the sweet and powerful Charlotte Purin .
