After casting actress Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. announced today that actor Jesse Eisenberg (Master Trick, The Social Network) will play the villain Lex Luthor in the film that will bring together Batman and Superman on the small screen. At the same time, actor Jeremy Irons will play the butler Alfred, the film has not yet received an official title.
Director Zack Snyder commented in the announcement: “ Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman's rivals, his reputation preceding him since the 1940s. What's great about Lex is that he goes beyond the simple stereotype of the nefarious villain. He is a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and status position him as one of the few mortals capable of challenging Superman's incredible power. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore this interesting dynamic, and also take the character in new and unexpected directions .”
The film, which was scheduled to premiere on July 17, 2015, was postponed to May 6, 2016. Ben Affleck will play Batman and Henry Cavill returns as Superman. Gal Gadot will play Diana Prince, Wonder Woman. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane also return.
