According to anime director Tatsuya Ishihara, the film will be an adaptation of the first season, but with new elements to make it more interesting for the audience. The staff and cast from the first season are returning for this film, and the ending theme will be "Black Raison d'être".

Synopsis:

Yūta Togashi is a boy who, during elementary school, had "adolescent delusions," believing himself to be the "Master of the Black Flames" and distancing himself from his classmates. Finding his past embarrassing, Yūta tries to start over in high school at a new school, free from his old delusions. However, this proves difficult, as another teenage girl with adolescent delusions, named Rikka Takanashi, discovers Yūta's other identity and begins to take an interest in him.

Therefore, the first season of the anime premiered in Japan in October 2012. Sentai Filmworks acquired the series for distribution in North America.
A teaser aired to reveal that the anime had its "contract renewed."

Finally, the June issue of Kadokawa Shoten Newtype magazine confirms that production of the second season has already begun.
