The turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive's first game, may be getting a version for Nintendo's next console, the Switch 2. The title, which debuted on April 24, 2025, has surpassed 2 million copies sold and leads the review rankings for the year, with a score of 92 on Metacritic.

During an interview with mistermv, Sandfall CEO Guillaume Broche commented that the team is considering a port for Nintendo's new video game. He stated that, although it's still too early to announce any project, the possibility is under consideration. "It's definitely something that could be interesting ," he declared.

Studio evaluates expansion of RPG to new platforms

Broche was cautious in his statements, but acknowledged the impact of the game's commercial and critical success. According to him, the strong performance opened up new opportunities for the studio, which is now considering the franchise's next steps. Adapting it for the Switch 2 appears to be a viable option to expand the title's reach.

The game is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and is also part of the Xbox Game Pass catalog. The positive reception has led publisher Kepler Interactive to consider expanding the game to other platforms, targeting new market segments.

Nintendo's new console is expected to launch in the coming months. According to industry analysts, the company aims to sell around 15 million units by March 2026. In this scenario, including a successful game like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in the initial lineup could reinforce the platform's appeal to the public.

Even without official confirmation, Broche's statement indicates that Sandfall Interactive is closely monitoring market trends. The strategy of expanding the player base seems aligned with the company's objectives, especially given the game's impressive performance since its launch.

Unique narrative contributes to the game's prominence in 2025

In addition to its commercial success, the unique plot has captured the attention of players and critics alike. In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, each year, an entity called Paintress awakens and inscribes a cursed number on a monolith. All inhabitants whose age matches that number die instantly.

This number decreases as the cycles go by, and the next one announced will be 33. The game's dark and original approach has boosted its recognition, according to critics and players. Furthermore, many fans already consider the title a strong favorite for the Game of the Year (GOTY) award.

The striking aesthetic and turn-based combat system were also praised by the community, helping to cement the game's image as one of the top releases of 2025. The title managed to combine engaging narrative and refined gameplay, a formula that could be replicated on other platforms.

If released on Nintendo Switch 2, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could reach an even wider audience. This would reinforce the game's position among the year's highlights and cement Sandfall Interactive's reputation in the international game development scene.
