The turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the first game from Sandfall Interactive, may be getting a version for Nintendo's next console, the Switch 2. The title, which debuted on April 24, 2025, has surpassed the 2 million copies sold mark and leads the year's review ranking, with a score of 92 on Metacritic.

During an interview with the channel mistermv, Sandfall CEO Guillaume Broche commented that the team is considering a port for Nintendo's new video game. He stated that, although it's still too early to announce any project, the possibility is under analysis. "It's definitely something that could be interesting ," he declared.

Studio evaluates RPG expansion for new platforms

Broche was cautious in his statements, but acknowledged the impact of the game's commercial and critical success. According to him, the strong performance opened new opportunities for the studio, which is now studying the next steps for the franchise. An adaptation for the Switch 2 appears as a viable alternative to broaden the title's reach.

Currently, the game is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and is also part of the Xbox Game Pass catalog. The positive reception has led publisher Kepler Interactive to consider expanding the game to other platforms, aiming for new market segments.

Nintendo's new console is expected to launch in the coming months. According to industry analysts, the company aims to sell around 15 million units by March 2026. In this scenario, including a successful game like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in the initial portfolio could strengthen the platform's appeal to the public.

Even without official confirmation, Broche's statement indicates that Sandfall Interactive is paying close attention to market trends. The strategy of expanding the player base seems aligned with the company's objectives, especially given the game's impressive performance since its launch.

Unique narrative contributes to the game's prominence in 2025

Beyond its commercial success, the unique storyline has caught the attention of players and critics alike. In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, each year an entity called Paintress awakens and inscribes a cursed number on a monolith. All inhabitants whose age corresponds to that number die instantly.

This number decreases with each cycle, and the next one announced will be the 33rd. The dark and original concept has boosted the game's recognition, according to critics and players. Furthermore, many fans already consider the title the favorite for the Game of the Year (GOTY) award.

The striking aesthetics and turn-based combat system were also praised by the community, helping to solidify the game's image as one of the top releases of 2025. The title managed to combine an engaging narrative and refined gameplay, a formula that could be replicated on other platforms.

If it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could reach an even wider audience. This would reinforce the game's position among the year's top releases and solidify Sandfall Interactive's name in the international game development scene.
