Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, games released so far in 2025. Still, developer Sandfall Interactive doesn't intend to leave it as it is. The company is already planning several improvements and even the inclusion of new content.
Clair Obscur's developers revealed on the Bluesky platform that they are exploring a wide range of improvements, such as new types of bits and bobs. In addition to these improvements, Sandfall is working on implementing new text languages, more accessibility features, and new localizations, and promises to release more information about these changes soon.
Developers confirm that new features are in development
The main goal, for now, is to fix remaining bugs and optimize existing systems, such as the Luminas menu, which received criticism after launch. The promise is that these updates will be accompanied by more direct communication with the community.
During an interview with Final Fantasy Union, art director Nicholas Maxon discussed the possibility of a photo mode coming to the game. He acknowledged that this feature is a priority for the team, as it allows players to share unique moments from their adventure. However, he also warned that its implementation would require time and technical effort, as it was not included in the original version of the game.
Bonjour! We're currently exploring a wide range of future improvements — from accessibility features to new content and all sorts of bits and bobs we're actively assessing.Naturally, this also includes expanded localization options!

While there's no exact release date for photo mode, the confirmation that it's under consideration already represents a step forward for fans. Once implemented, the feature is expected to further expand the game's reach on social media and encourage new interactions between players.
RPG exceeds expectations and reaches 3.3 million copies sold
Released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was one of the biggest highlights of the first half of 2025. With an innovative turn-based combat system and critically acclaimed artistic aesthetics, the title sold an impressive 3.3 million copies in 33 days, reinforcing its impact on the RPG scene.
The success is due to the combination of engaging narrative, refined art direction, and gameplay that balances challenge and excitement. The positive reception has driven Sandfall Interactive to continue investing in the title, striving for constant improvements that keep players engaged even after its initial release.
