Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has just received an update with changes that directly affect gameplay and performance. Patch 1.3.0 is now available for PC and next-gen consoles. Highlights include the return of the Simon encounter and a more balanced system in story mode. The game now offers a more fluid and responsive experience.

The new update fixes nearly 300 bugs and improves stability during extended sessions. The developer has adjusted the parry and dodge system to streamline combat. Additionally, it has added challenge options that allow players to customize the difficulty starting in the third act. The patch also brings support for new control options and visual improvements.

Players can challenge Simon again

One of the main highlights of patch 1.3.0 is the ability to face Simon again even after the initial victory. This expands exploration opportunities and refines player progression. The developer has responded to a long-standing community request by making this rematch optional and integrated into the current checkpoint system.

Additionally, the story mode has undergone significant adjustments that benefit both newcomers and veterans. The developer expanded parry and dodge windows by 40% and reduced damage taken by characters by between 10 and 50%. This makes the flow of battles more dynamic and less punishing without losing the game's characteristic intensity.

New difficulty options allow you to adjust the level of enemies in Clair Obscur

Starting in the third act, players can apply challenge modifiers directly to checkpoints. Options include multiplying enemy hit points by up to 100 and limiting the player's maximum damage to predefined values.

These features not only increase replayability but also encourage a strategic approach to combat. Thus, the flexibility in difficulty adjustment strengthens the game's appeal for those seeking progressive and customizable challenges.

Team fixed nearly 300 bugs and improved overall game performance

The patch includes fixes for 297 bugs ranging from environment collisions to cutscene glitches and crashes after long playthroughs. One of the most critical issues involved the character respawning at incorrect coordinates after loading from certain rest points.

In addition to technical fixes, the game has undergone a general overhaul with improvements to terrain, animations, and event detection. Cutscenes now correctly adjust to ultrawide monitors and less common resolution formats, improving immersion across different setups.

Developers have expanded the system options

New features in the settings menu include the ability to mute game audio when it's running in the background. Additionally, mouse and analog stick sensitivity have been adjusted to make the experience more precise.

Another highly requested feature now available is the ability to manually rename save files as long as they follow the standard system-required format. This makes it easier to organize different campaigns or test builds in parallel.

The Clair Obscur update also brought improvements to translations and localization elements. Fonts have been optimized for languages like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, offering better readability and cultural adaptation. Additionally, the end credits have been updated with new voiceovers and technical refinements.
