Meet Claymore
Norihiro Yagi wrote and illustrated the manga , which Shueisha published in Jump Square magazine from 2001 to 2014. The work already had an anime in 2007, with a total of 26 episodes .
The story takes place in a fictional world resembling medieval Europe , divided into 47 countries . In this world, the author presents humans coexisting with creatures called Youma , monsters that feed on human viscera.
Youma are able to take the form of their victims, absorbing their memories and personality . This allows them to deceive friends and family and infiltrate villages to feed without arousing suspicion.
In an attempt to combat the creatures, a secret organization creates an order of modified warriors Claymores , to protect humans . The name comes from the immense Claymore swords carried in combat by these warriors.
After its creation, villages under threat from the Youma hire the Claymores to exterminate the monsters.
The organization responsible for raising the warriors is the only one that has direct contact with them. It manages both the services requested by the cities and the internal services requested by the organization itself.
Requests for Youma annihilation come at a steep price , and payment is only made after the mission is successful. A man in black always receives the money when he visits the town shortly after leaving the Claymore.
If the warrior dies and doesn't finish the job, there's no need to pay. Rumors spread that the monsters decimated the cities that refused consecutive attacks . They received no response from the organization.
