Compile Heart revealed a series of releases for 2025, expanding its performance beyond the traditional RPGs. Highlights include Scarlet Salvation , the company's first soulslike, and Magical Librarian Ariana: The Book of the Seven Heroes , an action RPG with side vision. In addition, the producer confirmed the development of Zalesta Neptunia franchise , which celebrates 15 years.

With the expansion to new game styles, Compile Heart seeks to diversify its product line without abandoning its identity. "Our goal is to innovate and offer experiences that surprise players ," said Tominaga, producer of the company.

Gender expansion and new bets

In recent years, Compile Heart has explored new creative directions. In 2024, the studio launched Touhou Spell Carnival and Madou Monogatari: FIA and the mysterious school , expanding its performance beyond traditional RPGs.

Now the company plans to take an even bigger step, betting on unpublished genres within its portfolio. “We are always thinking about how we can innovate ,” said Tominaga. According to him, 2025 will be a year focused on completely original titles, each bringing unique challenges to the development team.

Among the advertised projects, Zalesta draws attention. Compile Heart's new shooter was developed in partnership with veterans of the Zanac and Aleste , two classics of the genre. The title will bring innovative mechanics, but the details have not yet been revealed.

Scarlet Salvation: Futuristic soulslike with TPS combat

The biggest highlight of the presentation was Scarlet Salvation , a challenging action game in Soulslike. The title will be a TPS (Third-Person Shooter), a significant differential within the genre, which usually focuses on melee combat.

Aki, the game's producer, said Compile Heart wants to create a balanced experience, ensuring a high difficulty level, but without making gameplay frustrating. For this, Scarlet Salvation will offer ten types of weapons, some with automatic aim, allowing less familiar players with shooters to also enjoy the game.

The futuristic setting reinforces the tone of intense action. The game will accompany Willow, the protagonist, and his relationship with a military AI, both dubbed by industry's weight names: Phairouz Ai and Junichi Suwabe. The dialogues will take place in real time, without interruption, making the narrative more fluid.

Magical Librarian Ariana: magic and adventure in an action RPG

On the other hand, while Scarlet Salvation bets on high difficulty, Magical Librarian Ariana: The Book of the Seven Heroes will follow a more affordable approach. The title, which takes place in a world of mysterious fantasy, will be an action RPG with side vision.

In the game, players will control Ariana, a young librarian who uses special spells, known as "magic of librarians." Thus, central mechanics will be based on the combination of spells, allowing you to create varied strategies during combat.

Aoki emphasized that Magical Librarian Ariana will be a friendly game for all audiences, without the extreme complexity or difficulty seen in Scarlet Salvation. More details about gameplay and history will be revealed in the spring of 2025.

CALMITY ANGELS UPDATES AND THE CELEBRATION OF NECTUNIA

Compile Heart also brought news about previously announced titles. Two games postponed in 2024 now are scheduled for release: Deliver it! Battle! Calamy Angels will arrive in the summer of 2025, while Zalesta is still under development.

However, unlike traditional games, Calamy Angels will have a system in which secondary characters will act on their own, making decisions regardless of the player. This approach promises to make combat more unpredictable and dynamic.

Another great announcement was the confirmation of a new numbered game from the Neptunia series, in celebration of the franchise's 15th anniversary. Since Neptunia VII (2015), the series has released only spin-offs, and now Compile Heart promises a return to the roots. "We are using everything we have learned in spin-offs to create something really special ," said Yasui, producer of the series.
