Constantine series

NBC has greenlit a TV series, Constantine, starring Matt Ryan and based on the comic books created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette, and Jamie Delano. There is no release date yet, nor has the number of episodes for the first season been confirmed .

Based on the popular DC Comics series “Hellblazer,” seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is an expert at taking hell…to hell. Armed with a knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly irreverent sense of humor, he fights for good – or used to. With his soul already condemned to hell, he decides to leave his life of good deeds behind, but when demons capture Liv (Lucy Griffiths), the daughter of one of Constantine's oldest friends, he is thrust back into the fight – and will do anything to save her.

Constantine, created in 1985, was initially a recurring character in DC Comics' Swamp Thing saga before gaining his own comic book series, Hellblazer.

In 2005, it was adapted into a film directed by Francis Lawrence and starring actor Keanu Reeves.
