NBC has ordered the Constantine TV series, starring Matt Ryan and based on the comic book series created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette, and Jamie Delano. There's no release date or confirmation of the first season's episode count yet.

Based on the popular DC Comics series "Hellblazer," seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan) specializes in bringing hell...to hell. Armed with a knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly sassy wit, he fights for good—or did. With his soul already damned to hell, he decides to leave his life of goodness behind, but when demons capture Liv (Lucy Griffiths), the daughter of one of Constantine's oldest friends, he is thrust back into the fray—and will do anything to save her.

Constantine, created in 1985, was initially a recurring character in DC Comics' Swamp Thing Saga before gaining his own comic book series, Hellblazer.

In 2005, it was made into a film directed by Francis Lawrence and starred by actor Keanu Reeves.
