Author Tatsuya Endo revealed that " doesn't feel any attachment to his characters " and that they " are the result of giving up a lot of things " meaning he gave up his style to design something based on what's popular today.
SPYxFAMILY fans was immediate , with several comments such as:

We can see the author's revolt, as he wanted to draw his work freely, with his own style, but was stopped in the end, probably by the publisher, from drawing something more “popular” with an attractive design.
