The story takes place in the city of San Teresa, on the fictional Pacific island of Kariaena. The "Buddy Police Action" series follows Detective Kei Matoba and the Knight from the alternate world, Tirana.

15 years ago, a hyperspace "portal" appeared in the Pacific Ocean, and the portal connects to a mysterious world called "Leto Semani," inhabited by fairies and goblins.

Now, more than two million immigrants from both worlds are living in the city of Sun Teresa. This is the world's newest "Street of Dreams." However, many crimes are happening in the shadows of the chaos: drugs, prostitution, and arms trafficking.

There are detectives protecting people from Sun Teresa. Officers Kei Matoba Kay and Tiana are different in gender, personality, and even the worlds they were born into. When the two meet, the case unfolds.

Cop Craft: Dragnet Mirage Reloaded began publication in November 2009 with illustrations by Range Murata (LAST EXILE, Shangri-La). This will be the third work by Shoji Gatoh to be adapted into anime after Full Metal Panic! (2002-2018) and Amagi Brilliant Park (2014).

Under the title Dragnet Mirage, the original work was published by Takeshobo's Zeta Bunko in two volumes with illustrations by Rokuro Shinofusa from 2006 to 2007. The novel was later transferred to Shogakukan's Gagaga Bunko and re-released with the new title, Cop Craft: Dragnet Mirage Reloaded, undergoing several changes, including Tirana's appearance, which changed from an adult to a teenager.

Volume 6 was published in October 2016 and Volume 7 will be released in the summer of 2019.
