Newtype magazine released its cover with the new film Sword Art Online: Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night – Movie coming next year. According to the official Twitter , the adaptation arrives in 2022 and revolves around the 5th floor of Aincrad in the original story.

The current film Sword Art Online: Progressive – Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria is directed by Ayako Kawano at studio A-1 Pictures . Kento Toya ( Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld , The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments ) designs the characters.
The film is based on the light novel by author Reki Kawahara . The novel launched in 2012 as a revised version retelling events that happened in Sword Art Online.
Finally, the story describes Kirito's journey through Aincrad's floating castle from the beginning, floor by floor.
