Following the announcement that Family Guy will have an episode set in Springfield, The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean announced at San Diego Comic-Con Matt Groening animated series will merge for a special episode. The crossover between The Simpsons and Futurama will be filmed in August and may air as the 25th season finale in May 2014 or the beginning of the 26th.
