Crunchyroll and Aniplex Create New Anime Production Company

News sites Deadline and Variety released a note on Monday (17), announcing Crunchyroll 's partnership with Aniplex . The companies created Hayate , an anime production company.

Hayate is an anime production joint venture that will develop and produce content for Crunchyroll streaming worldwide .

President and CEO Masanori Miyake and President and COO Leo Watanabe , Aniplex's executive directors, will lead the company. The company's staff will be made up of both Aniplex and Crunchyroll employees.

Hayate will reportedly be based in Tokyo and will produce “premium content for fans around the world, leveraging Aniplex’s expertise, cultivated through its partnerships with a wide range of creators and studios, as well as Crunchyroll’s development, marketing, and distribution resources.”

Sony Group owns both companies. Sony Pictures Entertainment independently operates Crunchyroll, and Sony Music Entertainment Japan has Aniplex as its wholly owned subsidiary.

The companies have previously collaborated on anime such as Solo Leveling , Demon Slayer , and Bocchi the Rock !.

Aniplex owns other anime production companies such as A-1 Pictures Inc and CloverWorks Inc , as well as game production company Lasengle Inc , which produced titles such as Fate/Grand Order.

According to Parrot Analytics , anime's popularity is growing worldwide. The industry is expected to gross an estimated $5.5 billion in 2023 from streaming services around the globe.

The partnership aims to work on the development of high-quality , to take advantage of the popularity that this niche has been gaining in recent years.
