The first season of Dandadan brought exciting moments, but, like any series, it had its ups and downs. Episode 11, while not up to the standard of the best, felt transient, becoming rushed. Some of these points impacted episode 12, becoming yet another patchwork episode.

Episode 12, titled "Let's Go to the Cursed House ," managed to regain momentum, delivering a finale that balanced chaotic comedy, scary enemies, and a mystery. Despite the effort, the season finale left a mixed feeling, with some moments that could have been better worked out.

Jiji shines as the charismatic character of Dandadan

Dandadan Jiji

From his first appearance, Jiji won over fans with his infectious charisma and almost exaggerated energy. However, what makes Jiji truly interesting is his duality. Beneath the positive surface, there's a dark side that episode 12 explores when it reveals that the yokai haunting his house is directly linked to him.

Furthermore, his childhood connection with Momo adds layers to the story, especially in its impact on Okarun. Jiji acts as a catalyst, pushing Okarun beyond his comfort zone and making him more active in the story.

Dandadan continues to play with genres

Dandadan

Dandadan 's hallmarks is its ability to transition between genres with ease. From high school romance to intense action, the anime maintains its essence while exploring different tones. In the final episode, the story takes on an almost Scooby-Doo-esque , with Momo, Okarun, and Jiji investigating the mysteries of Jiji's hometown.

The new enemies, seemingly ordinary citizens, add a suspenseful atmosphere, with piercing gazes and an unsettling presence. This shift in tone increased the fun, but left doubts about the direction the series will take in the future.

What to expect from season 2 of Dandadan?

Dandadan Season 2

Despite some questionable narrative decisions, the season finale delivered a lukewarm cliffhanger, with Momo's life hanging by a thread and the mystery of Jiji's house still unsolved. These unfinished cliffhangers at the end of the season hinted that episode 12 was supposed to be the beginning of season 2.

Dandadan, on the other hand, has the potential to outdo itself in season 2. The biggest challenge will be maintaining genre balance and production quality. Stay tuned to AnimeNew for more news about the series and its second season!
