Dead Account Synopsis:
The manga is set in a world where ghosts also inhabit the internet, following the tradition that spirits linger in places to which they have a strong attachment. However, the story revolves around Sōji Enoshiro, a 15-year-old boy who also streams under the name "Aoringo." He broadcasts deliberately violent, sensational, and provocative content to generate reactions and make money, but all of this is to pay for his younger sister's medical bills. In real life, he is a simple boy who loves eating pudding and loves his sister, for whom he would do anything, even to hell and back. One time, while online, he is attacked by a ghost that inhabits the virtual world, which leaves him spiritually awakened. He is recruited by Miden Academy, a school specializing in training exorcists who work in the digital world.
Watanabe and Okushō launched the Real Account in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in the February 2014 issue, and ended it in November 2019. Watanabe ( Kono Kanojo wa Fiction desu ) did the manga's art, while Okushō wrote the story. The staff transferred the manga to Weekly Shōnen Magazine in January 2015, but returned it to Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in June 2018.
Finally, the team had been producing a live-action adaptation since 2018, but Kodansha confirmed the cancellation of the project “due to various circumstances”.
