Bandai Namco has added two new playable roles to Death Note: Killer Within. Watari and Soichiro Yagami, well-known characters from the anime and manga, are now part of L's team. They will play strategic roles that expand the game's range of actions. The new addition arrived with update 1.3.4, which also includes new cosmetic content and paid customization features.

With a visual style faithful to the original, Death Note: Killer Within is an online social deduction game with support for up to ten players in matches that combine logic, suspicion, and manipulation. The new update reinforces the game's core theme by introducing mechanics that directly reference the anime's narrative.

Watari, for example, has the ability to secretly communicate with L via a radio transmitter, allowing for the exchange of information that furthers the investigation. On the other hand, Soichiro, as head of the National Police Agency, can interrupt the round with an emergency meeting and arrest suspects, but players can only use this action once per match.

Strategy and personalization are reinforced with new content

In addition to the new roles, the update brought additional items for those seeking customization. Among the highlights is Soichiro Yagami's Premium Avatar, featuring a comical version of the character in pajamas, a nightcap, and even a snot bubble.

Bandai Namco has released the Premium Customization Track Vol. 4, which rewards players as they progress with avatars, Japanese police mascots, nameplates, and exclusive voice tracks.

The new additions not only renew player interest but also expand the strategic depth of matches. Watari and the NPA Chief's roles integrate into L's team and present unique approaches to confronting Kira's followers.

Soichiro's mechanic prevents the function from activating when a Kira command card is in play, forcing players to choose the right moment to act.

Official Death Note game focuses on dynamic matches and a high level of deduction.

Released exclusively for PC and PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Death Note: Killer Within is the first official online game based on the anime universe. The idea is to transform the tense atmosphere of the original story into an interactive experience, where each player takes on a secret role with distinct objectives.

In addition to the classic roles like Kira, L, and investigators, the title now has the additions of Watari and the police chief, totaling seven roles with their own characteristics.

Players build matches based on trust, logical reasoning, and deduction. Thus, they must reveal—or conceal—their true identities, plan actions, and avoid falling into Kira's traps.

With cross-play support, the experience remains accessible and integrated across available platforms. The arrival of new content demonstrates Bandai Namco's intention to keep the title constantly evolving, updating both its visuals and gameplay.
