The official “ Death Note ” website has ended the countdown and announced a new live-action film in the Death Note series that will premiere in 2016. This new film will be distributed by Warner Bros. and directed by “Shinsuke Sato” (Gantz) and will be a “forbidden sequel” to the previous films.
In the story, the information-dependent society is ravaged by global cyberterrorism. New characters, inheriting the DNA of "Light" and "L," will reveal themselves. The successors of these two geniuses will wage war over six Death Notes that have fallen to Earth.

A crucial element of the story will be the "6-Notebook Rule": Up to six Death Notes can exist simultaneously in the human world. Of course, Shinigami (death gods) are limited by the number of Death Notes they hold. Therefore, up to six Shinigami can exist.
