Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is here, and early reviews confirm what many expected: Hideo Kojima's new game is a success. Released with early access for those who purchased the Deluxe Edition, the title has already accumulated an average score of 90 on Metacritic, based on more than 90 reviews from the specialized press.

With visible improvements over the first game, Sam Bridges' new journey wins over with more fluid action, emotional narrative, and engaging setting.

Critics highlight more dynamic gameplay and a well-conducted story

One of the main compliments given to Death Stranding 2 concerns its gameplay evolution. While traversal was the central and sometimes tiresome focus of the first title, the sequel's mechanics were expanded to offer more dynamism, refined combat, and a wider variety of options.

Furthermore, the narrative's pacing also received special attention. Critics point out that the new game avoids the initial slowness of the first and delivers a more engaging plot from the start, focusing on character development and more intense dramatic arcs.

Soundtrack, ambiance and emotional message enhance the experience

Another widely praised aspect is the impactful soundtrack, which contributes to the game's immersive atmosphere. Like the original, Death Stranding 2 boasts bold, cinematic artistic direction. However, this time, the plot delves deeper into contemporary themes such as isolation, grief, human connection, and the role of technology in society.

Critics also emphasize that the game reinforces Kojima's creative signature: a blend of cinema and video games that delivers reflection, emotion, and spectacle. It's a project that, according to several outlets, reaffirms the director's ambition to transform games into complete artistic works.

Specialized media surrenders: top marks dominate reviews

Several specialized websites marked the game's debut with a flood of top scores. Outlets like IGN Brasil, Push Square, VGC, Screen Rant, Dexerto, and MeuPlayStation all gave the sequel a 100, highlighting how it expands and improves on everything the first game attempted.

For Critical Hits, Death Stranding 2 is "flawless" and "one of the best games of the generation." TechRadar Gaming highlighted that, despite its focus on more direct combat, the title doesn't abandon the franchise's contemplative essence, balancing action and introspection well.

Official launch takes place on June 26th

Although the Deluxe Edition has been available since June 24, the official launch of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach takes place on June 26, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The expectation is that the good reviews will further boost sales and solidify the game as a strong contender for Game of the Year.

With Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima once again demonstrates why he's considered one of the gaming industry's most visionary creators. The new title not only corrects previous flaws but also takes the experience to a new level, blending technique, emotion, and innovation. Regardless of the divisions it may still cause among players, the work's impact is already undeniable.
