The wait ended for Death Stranding fans. Kojima Productions has confirmed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. In addition, an extended trailer has been released, bringing details of gameplay, setting and characters.
The graphs, captured directly from a standard PS5, drew attention for the visual quality and cinematic elements characteristic of Hideo Kojima's work. The game's pre-sale begins on March 17, however, those who purchase the Deluxe digital edition or collector edition will have early access of 48 hours before the official launch.
Expanded plot and new challenges in a devastated world
Death Stranding 2's narrative will continue the events of the first game, but with an even more complex approach. Sam Bridges, again played by Norman Reedus, embarks on a dangerous journey amid a desolate and mysteries. His goal goes beyond supply deliveries: now he needs to deal with the consequences of established connections and face even greater threats.
Hideo Kojima, during the presentation of the game at SXSW, highlighted the difference in approach between the two titles. For him, while the first Death Stranding explored isolation and the need for connection, the sequence is a reflection on the future of humanity after the Covid-19 pandemic. The central idea of the game is to question what comes after the reconstruction of the connections, bringing philosophical and existential dilemmas typical of Kojima's works.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach features Léa Seydoux (Fragile), Troy Baker (Higgs), Elle Fanning (Tomorrow), Shioli Kutsuna (Rainy) and George Miller (Tarman). All play essential roles in the plot, deepening the relationships between the characters and the impact of their choices on the post-apocalyptic world.
Enhanced visual with decima Engine and immersive setting
The game is being developed at Decima Engine, the same used in Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West and the first Death Stranding. This graphic engine, created by Guerrilla Games, is responsible for the impressive level of scenario details, character modeling and realistic lighting.
The released images show a vast world, full of film landscapes, with dynamic climate effects and an atmosphere that reinforces the feeling of isolation and challenge. According to Kojima, physics and interaction with the environment have been improved, providing an even more immersive experience for players.
In the trailer, you can see Sam exploring different land, facing storms and dealing with hostile creatures. The game promises to maintain the strategic displacement mechanics of the first title, but with new tools and vehicles to facilitate the crossing of long distances.
Special editions and pre-sale of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach start in March
Players will be able to choose from different editions of the game, including the collector edition, which features exclusive items. In addition to the digital copy of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, this special edition will include:

Deluxe digital edition will offer unique bonuses for players, including special costumes, vehicle skins and other in-game items. Thus, both editions guarantee early access of 48 hours, allowing players to explore the game before the official release.
Music will be key to the game experience
As with the first Death Stranding, the soundtrack will play a key role in building the game atmosphere. Kojima invited Woodkid, renowned musician and artistic director, to compose one of the game's main tracks, titled To The Wilder.
Woodkid revealed that he spent time immersed in Death Stranding 2's universe before creating music, seeking inspiration in the narrative and aesthetics of the game. The partnership reinforces the cinematic tone of the franchise and the importance of the soundtrack in the player's experience.
In addition, Kojima Productions has announced the global “The Strands of Harmony World Tour” concert tour, which will take Death Stranding soundtrack to the world. The tour will go through 19 cities, with the first performance scheduled for November 8, 2025, at Sydney Opera House.
High expectation for one of the largest launches of 2025
With a deeper plot, enhanced graphics, and a thought -provoking philosophical approach, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach positions itself as one of the most anticipated games of the year. In addition, the combination of Hideo Kojima's unique view with a talented cast and an engaging soundtrack promises to deliver a striking experience to players.
The pre-sale starts on March 17, and the game will be officially released on June 26, 2025. Now we have to wait to see if the sequence will be able to exceed the impact of the first title, which has won millions of fans around the world since its release in 2019.
