Tanjiro Kamado , the protagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba , is known for being a very honest, innocent, and kind character. However, Koyoharu Gotouge , the manga's author, didn't plan to create such a character. In her original design, Tanjiro was a completely different and darker character.

Koyoharu Gotouge created this character for her one-shot manga called Kisatsu no Nagare , which debuted before the release of Demon Slayer. Originally, this was intended to be the protagonist of the story, but Tatsuhiko Katayama Shueisha 's taste . Therefore, the mangaka's editor asked her to create a more pure character, and that's how Tanjiro Kamado came about.
“Due to its serious tone, lack of comic relief, and dark storyline, it wasn’t edited for serialization. I thought it wouldn’t be able to go ahead unless the main character wasn’t changed, so I asked Gotouge-sensei if there wasn’t a more bright and normal character in the world she created. That’s how Tanjiro and Demon Slayer came about.”
Synopsis:
After defeating Upper Moon 6 in the Entertainment District, Tanjiro needs to go to the blacksmith village to forge a new sword, since his old weapon was damaged. However, on the way, he encounters new demons sent by Muzan, the main villain of the story, with the mission of killing the blacksmiths. Without the blacksmiths, the demon slayers will have no swords to fight the demons. So Tanjiro and his friends must fight the Upper Moon demons again to stop them.
Thus, the first season of Demon Slayer premiered in April 2019 , becoming a successful phenomenon with the movie. The second season premiered on December 5 , 2021 in Japan. Finally, the third season premiered on Crunchyroll after the release of the movie To the Swordsmith Village – World Tour on February 2 in Japan.
