Demon Slayer – Fans criticize the anime for sexualizing Nezuko

Since becoming a demon, Nezuko has gained the power to alter her body size. However, in the Entertainment District arc, she assumed a new transformation that causes her to grow into a fully grown woman. In the Blacksmith Village arc, Nezuko regained this transformation to fight the Higher Oni, but some fans disagree with the anime's portrayal of the character.

This is because some viewers see this transformation as a way for Demon Slayer to sexualize a child character as an adult woman. So fans took to Twitter to discuss whether Nezuko's adult form is wrong or not.

Check out the reviews:

  • Demon Slayer would have been much better if Nezuko had to fight her murderous impulses after being turned into a demon, instead of for some reason developing the mentality of a four-year-old girl who acts like a dog.
  • Looks and acts like a little girl and suddenly has big breasts when she gains demonic powers? Very weird and disgusting.
  • The fact that Daki is 13 too, oh, I just don't know. People rarely criticize Demon Slayer's female cast because of great characters like Shinobu, but I think we need to recognize that even female authors make these mistakes.
  • She literally turns into a child too, she can develop her body in any way possible and yet the moment you see her breasts you start throwing a tantrum?

Synopsis

Tanjiro awakens from a coma after defeating Upper Moon 6 in the Entertainment District and must travel to the blacksmith village to forge a new sword, as his old one has been damaged. However, along the way, he encounters new demons who are ordered by Muzan, the main villain of the plot, to kill the blacksmiths. Without the blacksmiths, the hunters will have no swords to fight the demons. So Tanjiro and his friends must fight the demons of the Upper Moons again to stop them.

Thus, the first season of Kimetsu no Yaiba premiered in April 2019 , becoming a hit with the film. Finally, the second season premiered on December 5, 2021, in Japan. Furthermore, the third season premiered on Crunchyroll following the release of the film To the Swordsmith Village – World Tour on February 2 in Japan.
