Aniplex has released the fourth official trailer for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 , a direct sequel to the 2021 game Kimetsu no Yaiba . The new video highlights not only the visual and gameplay improvements, but also confirms exciting new content for fans.
Paid DLC includes characters from the new movie
As announced, the game will feature a Character Pass DLC featuring fighters featured in the film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – Part 1: The Return of Akaza , now available in theaters in Japan. These characters will be available for VS mode matches, expanding combat options.
Additionally, Muzan Kibutsuji , the series' main villain, will be added for free after launch in a special update. So everyone will have the chance to control him at no additional cost.
Special edition to be released in August
The game will be released in Japan on August 1, 2025 , and for global audiences, it will be released on August 5 of the same year. However, those who purchase the digital deluxe edition will be able to play up to five days early .
This edition includes bonus characters like Kyojuro Rengoku , Tengen Uzui , and members of the Hashira, as well as exclusive costumes and voices for VS mode. In Japan, there will be a physical edition with a collectible figure and digital gifts. Pre-orders also include exclusive illustrations from ufotable .
The story continues directly from the first game and covers the Entertainment District , Blacksmith Village , and Hashira Training . VS mode will include over 40 playable characters , including Muichirō Tokitō and Mitsuri Kanroji.
Finally, all fighters from the previous game will return, including past demons and DLCs. The title is being developed again by CyberConnect2 , with publishing by Aniplex.
