After the successful release of Digimon Adventure tri. , a film that follows the sequel to the 1999 Digimon Digimon Adventure tri. Ketsui (Determination) was announced, warning of its arrival for March 12, 2016, that is, in winter.

The cast made the announcement in celebration of the release of the first film, Digimon Adventure tri. Saikai, which opened on Saturday. The film's staff had previously hosted a preview screening of the film on October 23, followed by a special livestream on NicoNico on October 25. The Blu-ray disc for the first part initially went on sale in theaters on Saturday, and iTunes also sold the first part on the same day.

The Blu-ray and DVD retail releases will go on sale on December 18.
