Studio Ghibli director hospitalized due to cardiac arrest

Hiromasa Yonebayashi , the director of some Studio Ghibli , was recently hospitalized after suffering a heart attack. He is now receiving medical treatment in Japan and it appears that his health is slowly improving.

The information came from Hiromasa Yonebayashi himself on his Twitter profile. According to his message, he is still in the hospital and undergoing tests. So, thanks to the medical treatment he received, the director resisted his heart attack and should get better soon.

 “I actually had a heart attack and am currently in the hospital… I was eventually transferred to a general ward. Things are going well.”

Originally, Yonebayashi began his career at Studio Ghibli in 1997 and worked on the animation for Princess Mononoke . Additionally, he helped produce Spirited Away , Ponyo , and The Moving Castle . As a director, he worked on The World of Little People and Marnie's Memoirs . After he left Studio Ghibli, he joined Studio Ponoc , where he directed Mary and the Witch's Flower and Modest Heroes .

Synopsis:

Marnie's Memoirs was Yonebayashi's last film at Studio Ghibli. The film tells the story of Anna, a shy and lonely young girl who lives with her adoptive parents in a seaside town in Japan. At the age of 12, she deals with feelings of isolation and insecurity, but everything changes when she meets the mysterious Marnie. Through their friendship, Anna begins to uncover hidden secrets about her own family and past, revealing an unexpected connection between her and Marnie.
