The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025, and promises to transform the brand's portable experience with technical improvements, a new design, and a series of unprecedented features. The screen now measures 7.9 inches, surpassing previous models in size and quality, with HDR technology and support for 120 FPS in portable mode. In TV mode, the console reaches 4K resolution at 60 FPS, thanks to the new dock with optimized performance.
However, the graphical performance is only part of the advancement. The console now boasts 256 GB of internal storage — eight times more than the original Switch — and faster processing, resulting in shorter loading times and smoother gameplay.
The base also received a cooler, which improves ventilation during extended sessions. The device's rear stand was redesigned and allows for screen angle adjustment, making it easier to use in tabletop mode.
Nintendo has redesigned the Joy-Con controllers for the Switch 2. The company has increased the size of the controllers and improved comfort during use. Now, players can use them as a mouse, a feature designed for shooting and strategy games.
The company also adopted magnetic connections on the sides of the console, ensuring a more secure fit. In addition, it included a "Chat" button on the controllers, allowing for voice conversations and screen sharing with friends—a feature available only to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

New accessories expand interaction and connectivity options
The Nintendo Switch 2 also focuses on a social and interactive experience. Nintendo included an official camera with the Switch 2. Players will use the accessory for video calls, live streaming, and games with facial recognition. The company will sell the camera separately, as well as the new Pro Controller, which features an ergonomic design and more precise controls.
Among the new features is Game Share, which allows players to share a single game between multiple consoles locally. This means that only one user needs to own the game for the others to join, eliminating the need for multiple copies. To take advantage of real-time communication with the Chat button and share the screen during gameplay, an active Nintendo Switch Online account is required.

Nintendo has updated the Miis on the Switch 2. The avatars display more realistic features, with expanded facial customization options and refined animations. In addition, the company has also added GameCube games to the digital library, within the new Switch 2-exclusive category on Nintendo Switch Online.
Launch titles include Mario Kart World and reworked classics
The Nintendo Switch 2 launch will be accompanied by a diverse list of titles. The main release is Mario Kart World, the latest installment in Nintendo's racing franchise.
In addition to that, games like Split Fiction, Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman, Bravely Default HD, Yakuza 0, and Cyberpunk 2077 will be available. However, even in 2025, the console will receive titles such as Hyrule Warriors: Impression, Elden Ring, Hades 2, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

More titles will be revealed during the Nintendo Treehouse event, scheduled for April 3rd and 4th. Therefore, the expectation is that the game list will grow with brand new releases and successful re-releases adapted to the console's new capabilities.
In addition to new games, several original Nintendo Switch titles will receive graphical upgrades and new modes on the Switch 2. Enhanced versions of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokémon: Legends ZA are confirmed. These upgrades will require an additional payment, but will allow players to take advantage of the graphical improvements and features of the new hardware.
Backward compatibility ensures a smooth transition for owners of the original Switch
Backward compatibility with original Nintendo Switch games is one of the great advantages of the new console. Users will be able to migrate their digital library to the Switch 2 without needing to repurchase it. The company promises full compatibility, including physical and digital games, as well as integration with existing Nintendo accounts.
The Nintendo Switch Online infrastructure will also be expanded. There will be a new section exclusive to the Switch 2, with optimized games, enhanced social features, and access to the classic GameCube library. This content requires an active subscription to the service.
In Brazil, the price still depends on taxation, but the console will cost US$449. In Brazil, it should arrive for around R$4,500. However, Nintendo will sell the camera and professional controller separately, but has not yet confirmed the prices of the accessories. Even so, the combination of technical innovations, new games, and unprecedented features positions the Switch 2 as one of the most relevant releases of the year in the gaming market.
