The anime Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko has revealed a new main trailer that provides more details about its production, additional cast, and theme songs. The series premieres in Japan on July 6, 2026, marking the return of the classic dodgeball franchise created by Tetsuhiro Koshita.
The preview also features the opening theme “Kaishin no Ichigeki,” performed by the girl group Momoiro Clover Z, while the ending theme will be performed by the voice acting unit i☆Ris, with the song “Welcome to Azatosa World.” Additionally, the first two episodes will have an advance screening on June 21st at the Shinjuku Wald 9 cinema.
New names strengthen the cast
Among the announced voice actors are Sumire Uesaka as Hako Mikasa, Kanna Nakamura as Hayami Hiura, Yuka Iguchi as Jyuri Igarashi, Satomi Akesaka as Ruka Sakamoto, Fairouz Ai as Zoe and Mariya Ise as Ran Midou. The main cast continues to be led by Manaka Nakayama, who plays the protagonist Danko Ichigeki.

The story follows Danko, daughter of the legendary Danpei Ichigeki, as she attempts to assemble the strongest dodgeball team of the Reiwa era. The character Danpei returns in his adult version, voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi, while Noriko Hidaka, who voiced the original hero in the 1990s, participates in flashback scenes and also acts as the narrator.
A sequel to a 90s classic
Produced by Studio CUE, the anime is directed by Hiroshi Ikehata and written by Kazuho Hyōdō. The work is a direct sequel to the manga Honō no Tōkyūji Dodge Danpei, published between 1989 and 1995 in CoroCoro Comic magazine and adapted into a 47-episode anime.
