Nintendo officially unveiled Donkey Kong Bananza, the new exclusive Switch 2 title, scheduled for launch on July 17. The special presentation detailed the plot, gameplay, cooperative modes and a variety of unpublished features, including transformations, artistic minigames and even an exclusive amiibo.
- Almost 3,000 units of Nintendo Switch 2 are stolen in the USA
- Best team compositions with Dahlia in Genshin Impact
In addition to resuming characters known as Pauline and Cranky Kong, the game promises a rich underground experience, dynamic combat and skill customization, thus consolidating Bananza as the biggest project in the Donkey Kong franchise in years.
Subversive plot takes Donkey Kong to the depths of the planet
In Donkey Kong Bananza, the protagonist leaves on a mission to help Pauline, a singer trapped in a mysterious rock. To release it, the pair therefore must go down to the center of the planet, facing the dangers hidden under the surface.
During the journey, the pair also faces Void Company, a mining organization led by unusual figures such as Grumpy Kong, Void King and Poppy Kong. These villains control the underground mines and impose the main threat of the game.
Unpublished transformations and powers expand gameplay
The action goes beyond the classic punches and jumps. Donkey Kong can access various forms with unique skills:
- Kong Bananza (superforce);
- Zebra Bananza (Speed and Dash);
- Ostrich Bananza (flight with bombs).
Pauline activates these transformations by using the energy collected by the coins. In addition, among the traditional blows are the Dive Punch, Hand Slap and Turf Surfing, essential for defeating enemies and overcoming obstacles.
Cooperative mode and accessibility expand experience
The game brings a local and online cooperative mode, where a player controls Donkey Kong and another commands Pauline. The character not only follows the journey, but also has its own skills, such as the “Destroyer Scream” and the ability to copy materials from the scenario to strengthen its powers.
The new generation of Joy-Con 2, with mouse feature, will be used in minigames like DK Artist, where players sculpt and paint in stone. On the other hand, the game will also have an assistance mode to reduce damage and guide novice players during the adventure.
Nonlinear exploration and focus on collectibles
Throughout the game, players will be able to explore different interconnected maps with the help of underground eels. Scenarios, in turn, include time challenges, wave battles and, for example, nostalgic moments inspired by classic Donkey Kong games, such as rail and cannon sections.
In addition, collectibles are a central part of the experience. Items such as bananium gems, fossils and musical records can unlock skills, visual customizations and new soundtracks for maps.
Old and new characters reinforce the DK universe
The plot brings together dear fans characters such as Cranky Kong and the rhino Rambi. In addition, it presents unpublished figures with an important role in the narrative, such as Void Company's eccentric trio. Finally, Pauline returns in one of the most active roles in his history, now as co-protagonist and key to the progression of the game.
Creative minigames expand fun beyond history
Outside the main campaign, Donkey Kong Bananza bets on variety with creative and relaxing modes. Among them, they stand out:
- Getaway mode, for free exploration and without fighting;
- Photo mode, which allows you to record moments at different angles;
- DK Artist, focusing on sculpture and painting using control as a tool.
These options help make the experience more versatile and engaging, encouraging players' creativity.
