Nintendo has officially revealed Donkey Kong Bananza, the new Switch 2 exclusive title, scheduled for release on July 17th. The special presentation detailed the plot, gameplay, cooperative modes, and a variety of new features, including transformations, artistic minigames, and even an exclusive Amiibo.

- Best team compositions with Dahlia in Genshin Impact
In addition to bringing back familiar characters like Pauline and Cranky Kong, the game promises a rich experience with underground exploration, dynamic combat, and skill customization, thus solidifying Bananza as the biggest Donkey Kong franchise project in years.

A subversive plot takes Donkey Kong to the depths of the planet
In Donkey Kong Bananza, the protagonist embarks on a mission to help Pauline, a singer trapped in a mysterious rock. To free her, the duo must descend to the center of the planet, facing the dangers hidden beneath the surface.
During their journey, the duo also faces the Void Company, a mining organization led by unusual figures such as Grumpy Kong, Void King, and Poppy Kong. These villains control the underground mines and pose the game's main threat.
Unprecedented transformations and powers expand the gameplay
The action goes beyond the classic punches and jumps. Donkey Kong will be able to access various forms with unique abilities:
- Kong Bananza (super strength);
- Zebra Bananza (speed and dash);
- Ostrich Bananza (flight with bombs).
Pauline activates these transformations by using the energy collected from the coins. In addition, among her traditional attacks are the Dive Punch, Hand Slap, and Turf Surfing, essential for defeating enemies and overcoming obstacles.

Cooperative mode and accessibility expand the experience
The game features a local and online cooperative mode, where one player controls Donkey Kong and the other controls Pauline. The character not only accompanies the journey, but also possesses her own abilities, such as the "destructive scream" and the ability to copy materials from the environment to strengthen her powers.
The new generation of Joy-Con 2 controllers, with mouse functionality, will be used in minigames such as DK Artist, where players sculpt and paint on stone. On the other hand, the game will also feature an assist mode to reduce damage and guide beginner players during the adventure.
Non-linear exploration and a focus on collectibles
Throughout the game, players will be able to explore different interconnected maps with the help of subterranean eels. The scenarios, in turn, include time challenges, battles against waves of enemies and, for example, nostalgic moments inspired by classic Donkey Kong games, such as rail sections and cannons.
Furthermore, collectibles are a central part of the experience. Items such as Bananium Gems, fossils, and music discs can unlock abilities, visual customizations, and new soundtracks for the maps.

Old and new characters strengthen the DK universe
The plot brings together fan-favorite characters like Cranky Kong and the rhinoceros Rambi. In addition, it introduces new characters with important roles in the narrative, such as the eccentric trio from the Void Company. Finally, Pauline returns in one of the most active roles in her history, now as a co-protagonist and key player in the game's progression.
Creative minigames extend the fun beyond the story
Outside of the main campaign, Donkey Kong Bananza focuses on variety with creative and relaxing game modes. Among them, the following stand out:
- Getaway Mode, for free exploration without combat;
- Photo Mode, which allows you to capture moments from different angles;
- DK Artist, focusing on sculpting and painting using the controller as a tool.
These options help make the experience more versatile and engaging, encouraging player creativity.
