Donkey Kong Bananza , a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive , has already been tested by the international press and has surprised with its gameplay. However, although the game is fluid for the most part, there are occasional performance drops.
Donkey Kong Bananza prioritizes visual impact
According to Kazuya Takahashi, the game's director, certain effects were applied intentionally. " We used techniques like slow motion and 'hit stop' to intensify the sensation of impacts ," he explained. He also noted that the voxel , used to enable massive destruction, can create instability in scenes with abrupt changes in the environment.
Despite this, the team doesn't see this as a problem. " Even with these occasional crashes, fun and gameplay remain our priority ," Takahashi added. After all, the game's overall fluidity remains satisfactory, according to testers.
Development began on the original Switch
Initially planned for the first Switch, Donkey Kong Bananza expanded in scale as advanced features were added. Production later shifted to the Switch 2 due to the demand for more on-screen destructible elements. "We wanted to create chain destruction with many different materials, which was only possible on the new hardware," Takahashi explained.
However, Donkey Kong Bananza will be released on July 17 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 .
