During the VGX gaming event that selects the best of 2013, Nintendo Donkey Kong Country franchise will be released for the Wii U console on February 21st of next year in the US. Titled Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, this new game was originally scheduled for release at the end of 2013.
In the story of the new game, Donkey Kong Island is invaded by Vikings from the North Sea, and in order to reclaim it, Donkey Kong and his friends embark on an adventure that will take them to five different islands.

According to Nintendo, Cranky Kong will be a playable character in Tropical Freeze, alongside Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Dixie Kong.
