Released on April 21st for iOS and Android, the title reached 1 million global downloads in just one day. Furthermore, it topped the revenue charts in Japan the day after its release. By May 1st, the number had already surpassed 5 million cumulative downloads worldwide.
KLab comments on performance outside of Asia
During a Q&A session with shareholders held on May 14, KLab CEO Tetsuya Sanada stated that the initial performance of Dragon Quest Smash/Grow is "largely in line with expectations." However, according to him, the company believes that the game's revenue should grow more significantly in the coming quarters, following patterns observed in previous releases.

Sanada also rejected the idea that the game is performing poorly outside of Asia. Although he did not disclose specific numbers due to Square Enix's policies, the executive explained that international markets tend to have slower adoption rates compared to Japan.
How does Dragon Quest Smash/Grow work?
Unlike traditional RPGs franchise Dragon Quest, this new spin-off focuses on fast-paced battles against large groups of enemies. The progression system utilizes "Blessings," abilities that can be combined to strengthen the character during each game.
In addition to the main campaign, which takes players through dungeons known as "rifts," the game also offers online cooperative missions. Monetization revolves around a gacha system focused on equipment, allowing players to obtain weapons and armor to increase their heroes' attributes.
