One Piece manga will be going on hiatus in the coming weeks, and the news has left fans concerned about the health of its creator, Eiichiro Oda . Recently, Manga Plus adjusted the release date for chapter 1132 to November 17, 2024, correcting an error that indicated the return would only be on December 1. However, the three-week hiatus has been officially confirmed.
A statement from the Shonen Jump editorial team, posted on X/Twitter, cited " weakened health conditions " as the reason. The text states:
To our readers, thank you for always following One Piece . Due to the author's physical condition, One Piece will be absent from this issue. We apologize to the readers who have been eagerly awaiting it. Although One Piece is listed in this issue's index, it was not possible to correct it in time due to printing schedules. The series is expected to return in New Year's issue #1, on sale December 2nd.
Although Eiichiro Oda began taking regular breaks to avoid overexertion, concerns for his health increased after the announcement. In addition to being involved in the manga since 1997, Oda is also working on the second season of Netflix's live-action One Piece , having recently returned from South Africa.
Fans expressed both support and concern: "He needs a longer break," commented one. Others believe the hiatus may be due to travel: "It's probably just the fatigue of changing time zones and eating," said another.
Finally, the publisher regretted any misunderstanding this may have caused.
