One Piece manga will be going on hiatus for the next few weeks, and the news has fans worried about the health of its creator, Eiichiro Oda . Recently, Manga Plus adjusted the release date of chapter 1132 to November 17, 2024, correcting an error that indicated it would only return on December 1. However, the three-week hiatus has been officially confirmed.
A statement from the Shonen Jump editorial team, released on X/Twitter, cited “ poor health conditions ” as the reason. The text states:
To our readers, thank you for always following One Piece . Due to the author's physical condition, One Piece will be absent from this edition. We apologize to readers who have been anxiously awaiting. Although One Piece is included in the index of this edition, it was not possible to correct it in time due to the printing schedule. The series is expected to return in New Year's issue #1, on sale December 2.
Although Eiichiro Oda began taking regular breaks to avoid overload, concerns about his health increased following the announcement. In addition to being involved in the manga since 1997, Oda is also working on Season 2 of One Piece , recently returning from South Africa.
Fans expressed support and concern: “He needs a longer break,” one commented. Others believe the hiatus could be an effect of travel: “It's probably wear and tear from changing time zones and eating,” said another.
Finally, the publisher regretted any misunderstanding this may have caused.
