One Piece manga will go on hiatus in the coming weeks, and the news has left fans worried about the health of its creator, Eiichiro Oda . Recently, Manga Plus adjusted the release date of chapter 1132 to November 17, 2024, correcting an error that indicated a return only on December 1st. However, the three-week hiatus has been officially confirmed.
A statement from the Shonen Jump editorial team, released on X/Twitter, cited " debilitating health conditions " as the reason. The text states:
To our readers, thank you for always following One Piece . Due to the author's physical condition, One Piece will be absent from this issue. We apologize to the readers who were eagerly awaiting it. Although One Piece is listed in the index of this issue, it was not possible to correct it in time due to the printing schedule. The series should return in the New Year's issue #1, on sale December 2nd.
Although Eiichiro Oda has begun taking regular breaks to avoid overwork, concerns about his health have increased following the announcement. In addition to being involved in the manga since 1997, Oda is also working on the second season of Netflix's live-action One Piece , having recently returned from South Africa.
Fans expressed both support and concern: "He needs a longer break," one commented. Others believe the hiatus may be a result of traveling: "It's probably jet lag and changes in diet," another opined.
Finally, the publisher regretted any misunderstanding this may have caused.
