Young magazine announced that the Evangelion manga will finally be finished. Only two new chapters will be published. The penultimate one will be released next Thursday (May 2nd) and the last one on June 4th.
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto 's work will end its cycle after 18 years of publication, which included a series of hiatuses and announcements of completion that never actually came to fruition. Sadamoto had already said on another occasion that he was working intensely on the end of the manga so that it could be released later this year. To celebrate the end in style, Young Ace will launch the Evangelion Comic Climax Special Program along with the last two chapters, which features testimonials from several people involved with the series. Here in Brazil, the manga is published by JBC . While the manga is coming to an end, the latest film in the franchise (Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo) is on the rise in Japan. The feature film released in November last year grossed an official total of 5.26 billion of yen (R$ 107 million). If compared to the numbers released by Toei in relation to the collection of Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods (R$ 64 million) and One Piece Film Z (R$ 146 million), Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo) also managed to do well at the box office during the five months it was shown in theaters.
