Young magazine announced that the Evangelion manga will finally be finished. Only two new chapters will be published. The penultimate chapter will be released next Thursday (May 2nd) and the final chapter on June 4th.
If nothing changes, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto will end its run after 18 years of publication, which included a series of hiatuses and announcements of completion that never materialized. Sadamoto had previously stated that he was working intensely on the manga's finale for release later this year. To celebrate the finale in style, Young Ace will release the Evangelion Comic Climax Special Program along with the final two chapters, featuring testimonials from various people involved with the series. Here in Brazil, the manga is published by JBC . As the manga comes to an end, the latest film in the franchise (Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo) is doing well in Japan. The feature film, released in November of last year, has officially grossed 5.26 billion yen (US$107 million). Compared to the figures released by Toei regarding the grosses of Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods (US$64 million) and One Piece Film Z (US$146 million), Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo also managed to do well at the box office during its five months in theaters.
