The special is part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Evangelion franchise , officially celebrated in 2025. Since its TV debut, the series has become a cultural phenomenon and continues to receive new commemorative projects. Therefore, the television version of the film arrives as one of the central moments of this memorial.
Furthermore, the broadcast was scheduled to coincide with the final day of the “Evangelion 30+ Anniversary” , which takes place between February 21st and 23rd at the Yokohama Arena .
