The change occurred due to advances in production
According to the official statement, the editorial team decided to bring forward the release date after Mashima completed the drafts of the work at a faster pace than expected. Furthermore, internal adjustments at the magazine also influenced the change from the originally scheduled August 5th release date.

The new miniseries is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Fairy Tail, a work originally launched in 2006. The manga ended its serialization in July 2017, but continues to receive new projects, adaptations, and spin-offs over the years.
The franchise remains active with anime and games
Currently, the franchise continues to expand its universe. The manga sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest received an anime adaptation in July 2024. In addition, the game Fairy Tail: Dungeons was recently released on Nintendo Switch and PC.
