Fairy Tail fans received a surprise this week. Creator Hiro Mashima confirmed that the new manga miniseries will arrive sooner in Japan . The premiere will now take place in issue 35 of Weekly Shonen Magazine , published on July 29, 2026.

The change occurred due to advances in production

According to the official statement, the editorial team decided to bring forward the release date after Mashima completed the drafts of the work at a faster pace than expected. Furthermore, internal adjustments at the magazine also influenced the change from the originally scheduled August 5th release date.

Fairy Tail

The new miniseries is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Fairy Tail, a work originally launched in 2006. The manga ended its serialization in July 2017, but continues to receive new projects, adaptations, and spin-offs over the years.

The franchise remains active with anime and games

Currently, the franchise continues to expand its universe. The manga sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest received an anime adaptation in July 2024. In addition, the game Fairy Tail: Dungeons was recently released on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Hiro Mashima keeps the series among Kodansha 's most relevant franchises , accumulating anime series, films, and spin-offs. For more news about anime, manga, and new seasons , keep following AnimeNews.
