Fate/Apocrypha, the new anime from the successful Fate/Stay Night , has received updated information on its website . In addition to a new promotional video, the series will premiere on July 1st of this year, while on Netflix it will be released on July 3rd.
Fate/Apocrypha is based on a light novel series set in an alternate timeline to Fate/stay Night, written by Yūichirō Higashide and illustrated by Ototsugu Konoe.
The anime series is produced by A-1 Pictures, the same studio that produced Sword Art Online, with a script by Yūichirō Higashide, direction by Yoshiyuki Asai (Charlotte), and character design by Yūkei Yamada.
The saga of the new Fate/Apocrypha anime:
The story takes place during the Holy Grail War, fought by seven Magi and Heroic Spirits in a city called Fuyuki. However, a certain mage took advantage of the chaos of World War II to steal a Holy Grail. Several decades passed, and the Yggdmillennia family, who adopted the Holy Grail as their symbol, deserted the Mage's Association and declared their independence. Furious, the Association sent a force to deal with the Yggdmillennia, but they were defeated by the summoned Servants. With the Holy Grail War system changed, a war on an unprecedented scale of seven against seven begins.
