First, it's worth remembering that the amount of money animation studios spend to produce 24-minute episodes is insane. It's estimated that animating a single episode these days costs over $100,000!

On the other hand, if we talk about the country with the largest and most renowned anime production studios, Japan dominates the list. But being at the top doesn't mean it's more profitable than other countries. Japanese animators' salaries are far from what animators earn in the United States. However, the amount of work the Japanese deliver in a month is far greater than that of other countries in an entire year!

Finally, for this list we've collected the most popular studios, some of their most relevant previously produced work, and the number of employees updated to the date closest to the work:

  • First, let's start with A-1 Pictures which involved around 151 employees (February 2021).
  • Already here, BONES worked on My Hero Academia recently with – 80 employees (January 2021).
  • Now, CloverWorks which produced Horimiya has – 117 employees (February 2021).
  • And JC STAFF brought us Edens Zero with about – permanent employees
  • Meanwhile, Kyoto Animation recently responsible for Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon – 141 employees (April 2020).
  • Madhouse with One Punch Man had around 70 employees ( including hires).
  • Now, the giant MAPPA that is in Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season – 250 employees (December 2021).
  • Now, PA WORKS with Kami-sama ni Natta Hi has – 98 employees (April 2017).
  • While SHAFT , which brought the Monogatari Series to life – 70 employees (May 2021).
  • The traditional Studio Ghibli with Earwig and the Witch has around 280 employees .

  • And here, we have Toei Animation who produced Dragon Ball – 819 contract employees and 526 freelance employees (March 2021).
  • While Ufotable with the great Demon Slayer – 200 permanent employees (December 2021).
  • Finally, WIT STUDIO with Vinland Saga has around – 130 employees (as of November 2021).
