Fox has got another DC to call its own, and has just announced the TV series Gotham , which will tell the story of Commissioner James Gordon and showcase some iconic villains from the Batman universe. The series already has its first season guaranteed, with no set date or cast.
According to Deadline , production will be handled by Warner Bros. TV and will have a script written by Bruno Heller, from The Mentalist. In the story, Gordon is still a detective at the Gotham City Police Department and will face problems in the city, in addition to confronting famous mobsters from DC Comics – initially, Batman will not appear in the series.
Gordon was first shown in 1939 in the first Batman comic. Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, the commissioner appeared in both comic books and films and series, including the Dark Knight trilogy.
