Fox has secured another DC , and has just announced the TV series Gotham , which will tell the story of Commissioner James Gordon and showcase some iconic villains from the Batman universe. The series already has a first season guaranteed, but no date or cast has been set.
According to Deadline , the production will be handled by Warner Bros. TV and will be scripted by Bruno Heller, of The Mentalist fame. In the story, Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and will face city problems, as well as confronting famous DC Comics – initially, Batman will not appear in the series.
Gordon was first introduced in 1939 in the first Batman comic book. Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, the commissioner has appeared in comic books, films, and television series, including the Dark Knight trilogy.
