During the event celebrating the release of the Blu-ray and DVD of the film High Speed!: Free! Starting Days , a film based on the novel High Speed!, a new project in the Free! franchise is in production. Without many details, just an image that divulges the event, but the suggestion is whether it is an anime, manga or film.
Directed by Hiroko Utsumi and produced by Kyoto Animation. The series is based on the light novel written by Kōji Ōji, High Speed! (ハイ☆スピード!, Hai Supīdo!?, lit. High Speed!), which received an honorable mention at the second Kyoto Animation awards in 2011 and was later published in July 2013.
The first season of the anime, known as Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, was broadcast in Japan between July 4 and September 26, 2013, and the second season (Free! – Eternal Summer) was broadcast from July 3 to September 25, 2014. An anime film (High Speed! Free! Starting Days) will be released on December 5, 2015 in Japanese cinemas.
