The official website for the Fruits Basket has released a trailer dedicated to the film , titled Fruits Basket -prelude- . The video features the theme song by singer-songwriter Ohashi Trio, called "Niji to Kite".

The film will premiere in Japan on February 18, 2022 .
The adaptation will be based on the story of Tohru , Kyōuko and Katsuya , which the 2019–2021 anime did not adapt. The film will also include new scenes, written specifically for the film, depicting events after the anime's story.
The staff and voice actors from the 2019-2021 anime will return for the film. The film's Blu-ray release will be available the same day as its theatrical release.
