In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenager who believes there is nothing surprising waiting for her in her life, until the day a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon, the Medical Mechanica is attacking her city and Hidomi discovers a secret within it that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.
But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to the Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the humanoid robot 'Canti' go?
In August 2015, Production IG acquired the original rights to FLCL (Furi Kuri), soon after spreading it on the market, making it popular through Gainax.
Originally published in OVA format with six DVDs in 2000. The story was also published in two manga volumes by artist Hajime Ueda, and in a three-volume novel by Yoji Enokido where he later wrote the anime script.
