Netmarble has confirmed that the RPG Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will officially launch on May 21st for PC and mobile devices. The final version of the game will be available for free on stores such as Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, Google Play, and the App Store.
The game has been in Early Access since March, during which time it received adjustments based on community feedback. The main change involves the field bosses, which now feature matchmaking for up to 12 simultaneous players.
Changes to the progression system increase the pace of gameplay
One of the most frequent criticisms during testing was the scarcity of RP, a resource that limits players' actions within the game. The project director, Hyunil Jang, stated that the company is analyzing ways to increase the daily supply of RP. In addition, new content that does not require RP will be included to maintain player engagement in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad.
Exploration missions and cooperative activities will be added to the catalog of available tasks even after the end of role-playing. According to Jang, the goal is to ensure that the gameplay experience is not abruptly interrupted. Currently, it is still possible to explore scenarios or face enemies without role-playing, but the team acknowledges that the system needs adjustments.
Another change was the frequency with which bosses appear on the map. Previously, they appeared so regularly that players couldn't organize themselves into groups. Now, they will be rarer, which facilitates team formation and reinforces the collaborative aspect of the gameplay.
Stormlands will be a brand new setting and will bring a darker atmosphere
The official launch will also bring a new region: Stormlands. Known for its importance in the Game of Thrones series, but little explored in games, the area arrives with dense scenarios and darker themes. Issues related to religion and power will be central to the narratives present in this new content.
