The official website for the Garo Project series has announced that an anime adaptation has been greenlit and may proceed. Yasuko Kobayashi (Attack on Titan) is developing the original script for the series, but the title is still uncertain. The Garo Project began in 2005, with the first episode airing in 2006 and consisting of approximately 25 episodes.
In the original story of Garo (The Savior in Darkness in English), it is a tokusatsu of the Henshin Heroes type produced by Touhoku Shinsha Film Corporation. A young warrior, Kouga, whose father was killed by monsters called Horrors, becomes Garo, the Guardian Knight, the most powerful warrior of the Knights of Hell, seeking revenge. He then hunts and destroys these beasts until he meets Mitsuki Kaoru, a painter who dreams of one day becoming a great artist. Kaoru's body has been bathed in the blood of a Horror, and Kouga decides not to kill her, using her as bait, since the Horrors would follow her by the scent of her blood.
