Although these claims went unnoticed for a while, keen observers on discussion forums in Japan and China began to notice a striking similarity between these characters. Then they compare Lyney and Lynette with Ange le Carré and Charlotte from the anime Princess Principal, released in 2017, long before the debut of Genshin Impact.

In the case of Charlotte and Lynette, the dress design, hairstyle and ruffles are identical. While Ange and Lyney, the hairstyle, the presence of the hat and even the gestures stand out in similar ways. Soon after seeing these similarities, fans questioned the inspiration behind the game's new characters.
